ATHENS

Athens City offers lots of uniquely designed restaurants, cafes, bars and many of them are with amazing aesthetic vibes. One of the walks we would recommend is to go around the Acropolis hill, crossing the areas of Plaka, Monastiraki and Thiseio and visiting the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum. Make sure you don’t visit the Parthenon midday as it will be quite hot!

If you have a car and are staying close to the venue, visit the Temple of Poseidon, one of the major monuments of the Golden Age of Athens. Its remains are perched on the headland, surrounded on three sides by the Aegean sea. It’s located southeast of Athens.

ISLAND HOPPING

Athens is so versatile that it can be the starting point for island hopping. There are three ports around Athens where ferries are bringing you to the to saronic islands and cyclades: Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio.

Depending on how many days you are staying and with whom you are travelling, we made a list below of islands you could visit:

Hydra: nearby destination with traditional vibes. Ideal for a couple of days. Transportation here (around the beaches) is by small boats so you will not need to rent a car.

Distance: 1.5h / Stay: 2 days

Paros: busy island with a lot to do. Ideal for people that want to go out at night but also want nice beaches. It can be quite expensive. A daytrip to Antiparos is also recommended!

Distance: 3h / Stay: 3-4 days

Koufonisia: our personal favourite! Very small island (2h walk to cross almost half of it). Ideal for relaxing holidays and white sand beaches. Make sure to bring/buy an umbrella and also visit Kato Koufonisi with the daily trips.

Distance: 5h / Stay: 2 days

Sifnos: very nice island with a very picturesque Chora. You will need a car here.

Distance: 2.5h / Stay: 3-4 days
